WHAT ARE DRIVELS?
Drivels are tiny CRT-sprite creatures that live in the Lowband Layer — a hidden dimension between broken pixels, unused RAM, and the forgotten corners of screens. They wander freely across windows, tabs, and desktops like curious glitch-animals.
To most users, they appear as mascots or pets. To each other, they see an entire ecosystem of signal paths, cache-reefs, and buffer currents.
DRIVEL BIOLOGY
Frame-Skin
Each Drivel is made of stacked sprite frames known as Frame-Skin. When tense or excited, extra frames flicker and trail behind them like afterimages. When calm, their loop slows and stabilizes.
Drift Aura
Drivels emit a faint CRT glow called Drift Aura. It strengthens at night (system time), in dark UIs, or when the Drivel is idle and content.
TEMPERAMENT CLASSES
- Wander: Curious roamers who explore interfaces and sleep in the margins.
- Blink: Short-lived flickers that appear and vanish in static bursts.
- Vault: Hoarders of cursor paths, idle energy, and stray GIF fragments.
- Dram: Emotional Drivels with exaggerated, theatrical reactions.
- Deep: Rare, quiet observers that appear in low brightness or long idle states.
- Lost: Ultra rare, semi-corrupted entities that slip between pages and errors.
RARITY TIERS
- ★ Common: Wander, Dram — basic mascots and explorers.
- ★★ Uncommon: Blink, Vault — special movement or hoarding behavior.
- ★★★★ Rare: Deep — appears only under specific conditions.
- ★★★★★ Ultra Rare: Lost — tied to glitches, long sessions, or events.
LOST DRIVELS
Lost Drivels are incomplete or corrupted Drivels rumored to appear only when the site is unstable — broken assets, long-open tabs, or event triggers. They may briefly distort the screen, overlay red scanlines, or play reversed bleeps before vanishing.
All documented incidents have been harmless, if unnerving.
